From the very beginning of the EPL’s work, the environmental
advocacy is priority of our organization. Our lawyers are well-known
in Ukraine and worldwide as professionals that through their court
and administrative cases, consultations and law-drafting help citizens
and NGOs to protect their environmental rights and interests.
We provide legal consultations in the field of environmental law
and other branches of law, directly associated with environmental
rights and interests. In addition, we help to draw up petitions,
complaints and other legal documents on environmental issues.
When needed, we represent our clients in all public institutions,
enterprises, offices, organizations, competent to solve the corresponding
issue. Our court and administrative cases aim to protect environmental
rights and interests of individuals, as well as public interest
in general.
An important direction of our activity is the preparation of proposals
on adopting, changing and supplementing of the environmental legislation
of Ukraine. Participation in the law-drafting promotes the reflection
of the public interests in the decision-making process.
We involve students of our clinical program to the above-mentioned
work. They work on cases, provide consultations and participate
in the law-drafting process with supervision of our experienced
lawyers.
The environmental advocacy’s work promotes higher responsibility
of the state officials concerning the respect for the environmental
rights, the enforcement of the environmental legislation by courts,
and transparency in the work of the state and local authorities.
