Human rights and Climate change group meeting
We need to get the language on connection between HR and CC to the delegates (lobbing document disseminated)
Necessity to integrate HG language into the final agreement (shared
vision part)
Discussion on the proposal to the political declaration: countries
should prevent from climate change interfering into the human rights and the
right to sustainable development. (Discussion on whether we should leave the
right to development/sustainable development? Or the right to development is
the part of the human rights? Opinion: Language on pushing the right to
sustainable development will be accepted by many countries).
Important issue is that the group offers to create a procedure to
consider communications from individuals to ensure that implementation of
the Convention does not effect individuals, local communities and indigenous
people.
- CAN meeting (NGOs from Central and Eastern Europe)
How NGOs can work with their delegation and influence their position (propositions for different states)
Propositions on how make states' positions better than they are.
Informing of journalists from the states (writing press-releases,
participation in blogs, etc).
Participation in CAN meeting.
Meetings with delegations. Becoming expert in one-two directions on climate change issues.
Press-conferences after you arrive home.
- The Ambassador in Denmark from Ukraine expressed the desire to meet
with Ukrainian NGOs here.As I heard President Yushchenko is expected to arrive to Copenhagen. And we have Ukrainian journalists here (from Inter), normallyUkrainian mass media are not interested in climate change issues to send journalists to UNFCCC COPs, but not this time.
